More than 500 healthcare workers died in Gaza since Israel’s recent attack: WHO calls for immediate action

The deadly escalations started just after the occupier “Israel” launched multiple attacks on Gaza
has resulted in more than 20,000 deaths since October 7th and the number is still rolling.
United Nations & World Health Organization (WHO) have expressed their serious concerns
regarding the stupendous death toll of innocents involving children in the Gaza Strip after
airstrikes by Israel. According to a report, more than 500 healthcare workers have died since the
start of the war.
World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed extreme horror at attacks on Gaza’s Al-Shifa
Hospital, Al-Rantissi Naser Paedretic Hospital, Al-Quds Hospital, and others in the vicinity of
North and South of Gaza.
The escalations started on October 7th, after Hamas, a Palestinian freedom-resistant group
launched an attack on occupier Israel for its consistent despotic assaults on innocent Palestinians
and profanity of Al-Quds, a sovereign place for all Muslims.

Since the escalations, the hospitals in Gaza have been operating far beyond their capacity. Food,
Medical Supplies, and fuel have been depleted at large. UN Human Rights reports that almost
364 attacks on healthcare workers have been recorded since the recent oppressive operations by
the occupier. UN Special Repetour on Rights reports that more than 50 medical facilities
including over 190 ambulances have been affected, injuring some over 729 healthcare workers.
With the complete blockade of the world’s most densely populated area by Israel, the health
system of Gaza has reached a breaking point. The water condition in Gaza has already been
described as “undrinkable” by the Global Institute for Water, Environment and Health and the
Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor in 2021, interpreting 97% of it as unfit for
consumption.

Despite repeated statements by UNICEF, UNFPA, & WHO, unfortunately, the war on civilians
in Gaza is continued in its coercion amidst a total tumble of the healthcare system.
Violation of International Human rights by bombing healthcare facilities with close-range and
indiscriminately fired missiles infers Israel’s insanity, atrocities, and illicit acts of war crimes.
On December 7th, UN expert on Human rights, Tlaleng Mofokeng condemned the attacks on the
health system in Gaza and called the war “unrelenting” in Geneva. “The practice of medicine is
under attack,” said the UN expert while expressing his grief about the attacks on his coworkers. “
As a practicing medical doctor, I cannot fathom what my Gazan colleagues are enduring. They
are working while their colleagues and loved ones are under attack. Many have been killed while
treating their patients,” Mofokeng added further.

Irrespective of the UN & other international organizations’ repeated stress on Israel to stop its
escalations in Gaza, the World Health Organization has reported the city’s health system as still
under the oppressive siege with a trivial hope of averting the US vito in UNSC to ceasefire in the
Palestinian Nation.
