Policy Research Challenge on Environment in Pakistan

Pakistan, a country with a massive annual burden of disease due to air pollution, reports over twenty-two thousand premature deaths as stated by The World Bank and the World Health Organization. With the extrusive devastation of natural resources, Pakistan’s environmental issues are minting disastrous to lives on land, air, and marine. Lahore, the second largest and most polluted city in Pakistan ranked second worldwide as the worst city on earth due to air pollution with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 345 in November. Al-Jazeera reports authorities latched the city into a partial curfew for four days back in November, shutting schools, markets, and parks. The ever-growing urbanization, deforestation, and demolition of natural resources are dissembling Pakistan severely.

The health & wellness of our future generations will be drastically compromised if no further decisive actions are taken related to environmental policies.
